5 coats that definitely deserve a spot in your closet
HOW TO SURVIVE THE COLD

Entering fall, the weather is getting colder and outfits are getting warmer. There’s nothing better than a cute coat to complete your look and give you extra warmth.
Here are 5 coats that definitely deserve a spot in your closet:
Starting with an essential, puffer coats are the perfect pieces to keep you warm, dry, and stylish! Whether it’s a turtleneck or a hooded jacket, this is the kind of coat you will thank me for buying on rainy days. Try different colors or patterns to elevate simple outfits, or opt for a neutral once that cannot fail; either way, your look will be effortlessly cool! Here are some of my favorites with a mix of colorful and neutral options—perfect for any style.
- Topshop High Shine Ripstop Puffer Jacket in bright green from ASOS
- Jennifer Check Puffer in chocolate gingham from Damson Madder
- Monki Padded Puffer Jacket in black polka dot from ASOS
- Miss Selfridge Oversized Quilted Funnel Neck Crop Puffer Jacket in black from ASOS
For a more elegant option the best choice will always be a long trench coat. Trench coats are such a timeless and classy piece. You can pair it with everything: jeans, skirts, shorts, dresses—making it the best go-to coat. Black, beige, white, or grey, you can’t miss with this one! For a more fun look, add a chunky scarf and play with different colors; extra points if your trench coat has a belt. Belts create a more interesting silhouette, for sure! Here are some of my favorite ones:

Now let’s spice things up! We’ve played with colors and silhouettes….next on the list? TEXTURES. To achieve the coolest look, channel the glam of rock stars or the elegance of old Hollywood with faux-fur coats. These coats will make you stand out in any crowd and keep you warm—fashion and function!
- Topshop Faux Fur Boxy Shawl Coat in mink from ASOS
- Topshop Faux Fur Super Long Coat in green from ASOS
- Midi Coat in dark brown from H&M

An alternative to the long trench coat, the pea coat. The small, practical, and gorgeous coat isa simple yet stunning piece. They are perfect for your school or college outfits and are affordable and easy to match. For me, I think ones buttoned to the top look the best but you can also find the regular ones everywhere!
Here’s a fun fact: pea coats were used by sailors and were made with a very thick material to keep them warm.
Last but not least, to add a unique touch, find a coat that screams YOU. I call it the YOU coat; it can be a leather one, something with a distinct fabric, a patchwork jacket, anything! It’s important to wear what you like and create your personal style, mixing things up and styling them however you want to. Why not take it a step further and name your signature piece? Challenge yourself to come up with a personal name for your YOU coat. This not only solidifies your style identity but also turns fashion into a playful act of ownership.
Making fashion fun and personal!
